Product fails to gain poll position.
Mattel orders a recall.
Mattel Australia today added a die-cast vehicle in the "DOLLAR SWEETIE" assortment line to the list of products which may contain unsafe lead levels.
A spokesman for Mattel said, “When this product was released to the public we expected that one day it would be a market leader. Sadly it has shown that when push comes to shoving a knife between the scapulae it falls short every time. Its lead level has fallen well below market expectations. Critically and terminally so.”
“We had no alternative other than a total product recall, however customers will be given credit vouchers for their tragically misguided loyalty to this seriously flawed product. The vouchers can be redeemed for either the tried and true "RODENT RUNNER" or the soon to be unleashed "MALCOLM IMPORTANT" which is showing great lead potential in unofficial trials.”
